On a personal note today is my Angel's 4th birthday - here she is with her new toy - a squeaky monkey

She is now fast asleep on the sofa after a busy and happy day

Happy Birthday Angel! Terrific painting. Your dalmatian paintings are always very dramatic. The Hope photos were so tragic, poor little soul.

Amazing job here, Anne!

It's finished!

That red adds a sense of danger to the piece IMHO.

One dog looks so serious, almost protective while the one in the front is wide-eyed to what's about to happen.

This painting could easily tell a story!

I hoped the red would add both a sense of warmth but also a little tension to it. The dog at the back of the painting is a male and the one in front a bitch, so I think you've seen the difference in their sexes in their attitudes. This painting was done in rememberance of a bitch called Hope who suffered terribly and gave the title to the painting. As a breed Dalmatians are indeed 'ever hopeful' - always wanting that special treat or caress or waiting for the return of a loved one.
