Dalmatian - Ch Dvojica Voulez Vous (Frida)
20" x 16" watercolour on Saunders Waterford 100% cotton rag paper
Well, here is the finished painting, many, many hours later. I am pleased to report that her owner is thrilled with the portrait of his lovely Frida :)

She is a very beautiful lady, and, of course, well painted. Anne, have you used Arches paper at all? How do you find the Saunders compares with it?
Thanks Kathryn!
Ah now that's a question. I have tried quite a number of papers in the past and I believe I have tried Arches. I can't comment on that particular paper though as I simply don't remember; all I can list are the reasons why a selection of papers were discarded in favour of Saunders Waterford. They are:
Too absorbent
Not absorbent enough
Too fragile a surface
Unable to lift colour from the paper
Smell (!) when wet
Cockling even when soaked and taped down
I've got to go and get some more paper very soon - perhaps I'll get a sheet of Arches and give it a go. I should perhaps add that I always buy imperial sheets (30" x 22") not pads.
Beautiful work as always Anne.
Thanks ever so much for taking the time to comment Judy :)))
